Why It Matters
Powwows are ceremonial gatherings for dancing, drumming, singing, and prayer. The summer season runs May-September. They celebrate cultural survival, honor warriors and elders, and strengthen bonds between nations.
How It Is Observed
Grand Entry with dancers in regalia, intertribal and competition dancing (Traditional, Fancy, Grass, Jingle Dress, Hoop), drum circles, feasts, giveaways, naming and honoring ceremonies.
